Drones for everyone
This blog is a series of blogs on the design and build of a home based quadcopter or drones. The key concepts of the blog about drones for everyone is that everyone can build a cheap drone. This blog will also look at Flight Controllers, modifying firmware to restrict altitude, return to base on low power and suspected loss of signal. We must all be safe though, as even a small quadcopter has spinning propellers and can speed at up to 30 knots and will harm people if not controlled sensibly.

Drones for Everyone
Drones for Everyone?
Welcome to all, my name is Bob Pickles.
I have been involved with military and civil aerospace projects in the past on avionics sytems.
My trade was electronics initially, but now I am deep into software, as software makes hardware work better, well let's hope eh:)
So, 'Drones for everyone' is my start topic, as I was thinking to myself about how we see drones on TV almost everyday or on the beach at the weekend, almost anywhere, we occassionally hear or see something that is small and flying.
I am starting this BLOG as a total beginner, flew a £100 cheap import plane in the past, but it lasted one flight, crashed and burned, never went back! However, I have been looking deeper into unmanned aircraft and the gyrocopter got my interest recently.
My viewpoint is that I need to master this UAV or Drione craze and perhaps teach and help others to acquire cheap drones and master key skills to ensure safety for you and everyone that might be near to your drone.
Future BLOGS will cover the following topics:
Drone chassis types ( I have just acquired a carbon fibre quad rotor chassis for £25
so I'll report on this and detail the build in pictures. )
Flight Controller (These are available with software if you know where to look...
Once I build a basic drone, we will be adding unmanned and
Safety features, such as return to base, in software! )
The dreams of mice and me, eh!
Electronic
Speed
Controller ( ESG )
Motors
Propellors
Batteries
Video for Flight
Telemetry
Video Recording ( We can all show stunning scenary from our UAV projects )
RX/TX Controllers
All this sounds realy expensive, but we can have a basic system running for just under £200!
So we will build this monthly and try to stage the actual purchases every month to keep this project within everyone's budget.
Please comment on what you would like to see or if you have questions then email me or raise a comment on the BLOG.
There first BLOG done, many more to follow...
Best to All
